Perhaps I should begin building a list of all the lies we are taught in school. That a plant-based diet is healthy for you is presented to you so adamantly and incessantly, you begin treating the claim as self-evident to the point that questioning it becomes a nonstarter. Despite being proclaimed from the highest pulpits by doctors, nutritionists, and public health experts, it lacks both empirical and logical backing. The truth is pretty much the opposite.
To those failing to achieve the desired health outcomes despite following mainstream dietary recommendations, and to those willing to overcome the cognitive dissonance associated with entertaining carnivory, I recommend reading The Carnivore Diet by Dr Shawn Baker. The book discusses the following.
- Our ancestors were carnivores. They would not have survived the hardships presented by nature otherwise.
- Our anatomy is designed for meat consumption. We can see the evidence in, among other places, our teeth structure and the pH of our stomach. Moreover, our digestive tracts lack the features herbivores rely upon.
- The nutritional profile of animal products is far superior than the best of plant products, both in quality and density of nutrition.
- Plants do not want to be eaten. Their defense mechanism primarily consists of making plant parts toxic for consumption. Most plant parts we eat today were inedible for the majority of human history. Even the fruits we enjoy today used to far less edible before careful breeding brought them to the current state.
- Many common diseases are cured or significantly ameliorated with a strict carnivore diet. These include ADHD, alcoholism, anemia, arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, COPD, depression, eczema, IBS, gout, hypertension, hypothyroidism, neuropathy, Parkinson’s disease, tinnitus, ulcerative colitis, and several others.
- Veganism is little beyond virtue signaling. Far from being cruelty-free, it imposes immense costs in terms of animal lives lost in the process. The associated carbon footprint, when such accounting is done faithfully, is also significant. In addition, there are large medical costs associated with the corresponding maladies.
- The carnivore diet promotes health, strength, and longevity. Studies associating plant-based diets to longevity often contain glaring errors.
